The day I turned 37 weeks turned into a very eventful day. I had an appointment at 10:20 that morning so Ryder and I got ready and left to that just after 10:00. They were doing all the normal assessments and my blood pressure was high and then he measured my belly and gave a weird look and measured again and said baby boy was measuring small so he wanted to do an ultra sound. We moved to the ultrasound room and baby was measuring 34 weeks. He wanted to get a better ultrasound so he sent me down to their other office in American Fork where they had a nice ultrasound machine. We got there and I waited for an hour before they took me back I was very annoyed. They did all the normal again and my blood pressure was normal but baby was still measuring small on that machine so Dr. Lamoroux told me to go to the hospital and he would call and get things figured out. He said if it was his way he would start me right then but had to get an ok from someone first. So Ryder and I headed over to the hospital and they were getting ready to hook me up to the monitors when they said Dr. Lamoroux just called and said he was inducing me so they took me to labor and delivery. I had called Clayt on my way to the hospital he got there when they were moving me to a different room. He stayed for a little bit but left to go home and shower and to drop Ryder off to Crystal. They got me hooked up to everything and started me on an antibiotic because one of my tests was positive so I had to have that for 4 hours before they would break my water. They also started me on Pitocin to start the contractions. I got to the hospital just around 1 and they came in and broke my water at 4:20pm. By that time I was dilated to a 4cm. Around 6:30 the contractions were getting stronger so I asked for my epidural. (sorry no natural for me :) He checked me right after and I was a 7/8cm and he wanted to get that baby out of me. He had me push a few times but baby wasn't budging so he left for awhile and came back just after 7pm. He had me do a few more pushes and then he did some more things lol finally he said it's go time we're having a party lol I did 3 more sets of a few pushes and baby boy was finally born at 7:24 pm. He was a little purple and not really crying they let Clayt cut his cord and then they took him and got him to cry. It was such a relief to hear his little cry. They cleaned him up and weighed him then brought him over to us. It was so nice to be able to hold my baby right after he was born since I didn't get to see Ryder until 2 hours later and it was for 2 minutes before they transferred him to another hospital. Ryder came around 9 that night but he was still in the nursery getting a bath and all that fun stuff. He left before they brought him back in the room so he didn't get to see him but through a window. I had baby stay in the nursery that night so that I could try and get some sleep but that didn't happen. The next morning Papa and Great Granny Cosby came and saw him and got to hold him. Shortly after they left the nurses came and took him to the nursery to do his daily stat things. They came back shortly after and told us his sugars were low and that he would be moved to level 2. (not quite the NICU) Anytime we wanted to hold him we had to go in to that room to hold him. He had an IV with fluid going into him all the time to help his sugars stay up. Ryder wasn't allowed in there since it's RSV season you had to be 14 or older. Luckily the bed was right by a window so Ryder could see him through that. I was able to check out Thursday afternoon and once again we left the hospital with no baby. We still hadn't chosen a name yet and we had to have a name before we could leave. Clayt wanted to name him
Cap so so bad but I hated it. We finally came to agreement on a name
Range Cosby Johnson. Everyone kept giving me doubts about it so I wasn't sure I liked it but had already done all the paper work. Friday morning they called and told me that he could come home and we could come whenever we wanted. We headed back down to the hospital shortly after they called. They went over a bunch of stuff with us and then he had to pass a car seat test to make sure his breathing would stay up while he was in it. That took an hour and a half. As soon as he was done with that we were able to go home. We were so excited. Ryder stayed home with Grandma Marcia while we went to pick him up. As soon as we walked in the door Ryder was so excited. He was mad about the name so he called him Range Cap for awhile lol now it's just Range though.
He loves his little brother and always wants to help out. He wouldn't hold him for a few days and still has only held him a few times. He just wishes little brother was bigger and asks everyday is he bigger yet?! it's so cute. We love this little boy and are so happy he is a part of our family. We are all adjusting pretty good but missing our sleep ;) Welcome to the family Range we love you!
Pictures are out of order again :/
